Special Orthopedic Institute (SKA)

Since its foundation in 1992, the Warmbad facility has been part of the Villach Hospital (LKH-Villach), which is now the leading orthopedic department in the whole of Carinthia with over 1,200 operations per year under the direction of Prim. Dr. Bernd Preininger. We offer tailor-made therapies for each patient, combining proven methods and high medical standards, and attend them from diagnosis to therapy during and after surgery, rehabilitation and post-operative care. As part of a public health institution, the SKA orthopedic clinic is a specialist department dedicated to the care and treatment of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The orthopedic clinic is accredited and certified to Joint Commission International (JCI) quality standards. 

The Institute‘s operating theatres are located at the LKH Villach, while conservative in-patient treatment and initial post-operative mobilization following prosthesis implantation are carried out in Warmbad, where the orthopedic out-patient clinics are also located. The Institute for Orthopedics maintains a close working relationship with the neighboring Thermenhof rehabilitation clinic, headed by Chief Physician Dr. Prof. Johannes Kirchheimer. The direct link between the rehabilitation clinic and the orthopedic department means that patients have the advantage of a very short journey and the same team of doctors and therapists with access to their medical records.
